okay, in steps:
a) close Evolution
b) open terminal, run: evolution --force-shutdown
c) run in the terminal:
$ /usr/lib/evolution-data-server/evolution-source-registry
Alternatively, you can run as:
$ ESR_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/evolution-data-server/evolution-source-registry
which will provide some additional information, but that might not
be related to your password prompt and it can expose private
information, even in somehow encoded way (thus not obvious from
the plain text).
d) open another terminal and run: evolution
e) watch both terminals before and after you are asked for
the password; do provide the correct password to see whether it
succeeded to save it. Maybe either of the terminals will show
anything related in time of the password prompt and/or after
the password prompt is confirmed.
