Having spent some time evaluating Wikis the last two weeks, I have to
say GNOME is running perhaps the worst possible Wiki software on
live.gnome.org. I would recommend that if the group ever looks at
moving to a new piece of software, Twiki and MediaWiki be considered.
Twiki has an awesome file-attachment feature and both are just superior
in most ways to MoinMoin.
In what ways does Twiki's file attachment feature compare with Moin's
file attachment feature? There is an "attach file" link at the bottom
of every page you can edit on live.gnome.org. Information on
referencing the attachments is available here:
http://live.gnome.org/HelpOnActions_2fAttachFile
It sounds like some of the features people think are missing from Moin
actually exist, but are only available via the little icons in the top
right hand corner, which don't really stand out if you don't know what
they are for.
As for Twiki, it is worth noting that this is the software that was
exploited to break into freedesktop.org. The particular bug had been
found before the break-in but it was only being publicised to people who
had joined their "twiki administrators" list (no new release was made).
So if you do want to run Twiki, make sure you join their mailing list :)
James.
