Can you elaborate? I don't think we want unnecessarily strict
guidelines. It may very well be that our trademark guidelines need to be
revisited.

If it's just because our guidelines are too strict, then I'm sure we can
fix this by revisiting the guidelines. But if it's because the trademark
law requires such strict guidelines, then there's not a lot we can do.

Btw, I suddenly wonder: if what is trademarked is the "foot + GNOME
text" image, then is usage of only the foot covered by the trademark?
Probably not. But your premise doesn't hold true.

Except that the GNOME foot logo that might be trademarked might be the
logo that includes the text. I don't remember what we did when we
trademarked it :-)
