That is very strange.
I don't really understand how that could happen...
You could try to remove the cookies dir (file?) in misc/redhat-artwork
(not entirely sure if that will do much good).
Someone else probably knows more about this (back me up here :)
If you still have no luck then you could edit the Makefile (in 
meta/gnome-desktop I think)
and remove misc/redhat-artwork from the dependency list
since it's not a real requirement for gnome2, it's an add-on.
