Hmmmm......   I've been experimenting with compiling Garnome under 
Cygwin, and that appears to be my problem.  According to messages I've 
seen from Cygwin developers, there *is* no "glibc" for Cygwin.  I can 
get it as far as glib 2.0.6, and that's where it fails. (Tor Liliquist's 
 port is mingw-only, and explicitly states it's not for Cygwin).

I had hoped to learn something about troubleshooting/building/compiling 
packages with this, but it's already gone far beyond my experience level.
