Maybe we can add to GARNOME a way to download a list of possible sites a file can be downloaded from that can by dynamic. This mirror list could be hosted by GARNOME itself and would allow Jeff (or somebody) to easily change it if a file moves to a different location. Then whenever someone tries to build GARNOME, the first thing it would do is download the most up-to-date mirror list, and then proceed with downloading/building the rest.
This would save from having to mirror "lost" files, as long as the file could still be found somewhere.
Just an idea...
It seems as a nice idea, but it would increase the maintenance work for
Jeff, or at least it seems to be like that to me.
It would lose the advantage of having "garballs" for separate packages,
which contain all the data, and it would bring us the centralized place
containing tens (if not hundreds) of exceptions from category.mk
MASTER_SITES.
The other modification of this idea would be to make a file containing
just those addresses which hav changed between the releases, but this
would be a real headache if some users build the older versions of GARNOME.
Of course, put all this on Jeff, and lets hear his voice ;)
Best regards,
Danilo
