gnome-panel segfaults

Hi,
On my machine, gnome-panel segfaults at startup.
Could it be related to this message?
(gnome-panel:1269): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Could not open network socket.
Also, when using garnome default build options, are the debug symbols,
kept somewhere?
