[gdm-list] user startup script

How can I cause a user startup script to be run when using gdm? The
reason I want to do this is to turn off X's beeping with "xset b off".

It is possible to set this up in the individual window manager/session
manager that gdm runs, but then of course if you switch to a different
window manager, you have to set that one up as well, which is a pain.
Or you could choose the session "Run Xclient script", and edit
~/.xsession to change your window manager, but again that is less than
convenient.

I've found the above kludgy solutions, but have so far been unable to
determine whether gdm supports the simple solution: a user script that
gdm will run, whatever session you've chosen.
