Well, another thing causing this to be a little more urgent is the fact that Fedora 25 will have Wayland by default, and WebKitGtk doesn't have clippboard support meaning that you will not be able to copy/paste information from Geary.

It seems that this is about to be resolved soon, hopefully before Fedora 25 is release. However, I guess this fix only will affect WebKit 2... so there is a big risk that Geary users will be quite frustrated.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess that gives us a deadline to help
motivate the port!
