That's what the Cancel button does, unfortunately.

This situation will improve when version 3.34 is released in that if 
saving drafts drafts are supported by the server, the prompt will 
instead be "Discard/Cancel/Keep"[0]. However fixing this properly will 
require re-working how the composer is presented in the main window and 
with changes to how drafts are saved[1].
