Hi all
Is there anywhere I can find a definitive list of gedit plugins for
different versions, and where to get them from?
Hi John, we encourage to everyone writing a plugin to publish it or link
it on http://live.gnome.org/Gedit. Unfortunately there is no way (well,
at least I don't have enough time to enforce that). I was also playing
with the idea of setting up a distrubuted revision control system to
host plugins: it's obvious that cvs (and the bureocracy required to get
an accoount etc) would not scale for it, but a distributed system would
allow everyone to hack on his plugin and yet keep a collection in one
place. What do people think? In fact it doesn't need to be me: the nice
thing is that is someone wants to go on and do it, that would be an
awesome thing! I have plenty of stuff on my plate already...
If anywone is interested I highly recommend using bzr: all you need is a
website to publish the repository. See http://bazaar-ng.org/tutorial.html.
I have an idea for a plugin which would add the nautilus
(freedesktop?) 'actions'for the type of document currently being
edited to a menu in gedit. For example, if you have an HTML file open,
then there would be a menu in gedit saying "Open with Firefox". Has
there been anything similar to this? This would be an interesting
complement to the 'tools' plugin that was discussed a while back.
That sounds like a pretty neat idea! I don't know of any such plugins
and look forward yours :)
By the way, since gedit 2.13.3 we have an awesome Tools plugin included
with gedit itself.
I'm looking forward to upgrading to Fedora Core 5 soon -- I wonder if
that will give me access to the newest round of plugins yet?
Yep, some of the plugins (tools, snippets, modelines) are included in
gedit 2.13 which will come with FC5 and the others python plugins
announced on this list and present in the wiki are easily added by
simply dropping the python scripts in ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins
ciao
Paolo
Cheers
JP
