[Gimp-user] swap files 2.8.8 on winows xp

After dowmloading gimp it is umable to open the swap file directory it
created and the preference folder options for swap folder and temp folder
shows changes when new folder are chosen but these are not remembered when
the program is closed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail is
this a common problem? Is there an easy fix?
