[Gimp-user] new download, strange desktop

I hope I am asking this in the right place.  I am a new user and i just
downloaded GIMP for the first time.  When I open the program it looks
strange and different than the screenshots on the internet.  I
re-downloaded a second time, but got the same desktop.  Here is a picture
of what I am getting:
