Hi Kenny,
What you see is NOT an error, but a warning message and should NOT generate
crashes or hold you from using gnopernicus (hopefully ;-) ).
The warning appears because you are using - I suppose - festival driver, and
it means that gnopernicus is trying to deal with a TTS engine that does NOT
have speech markers. (we should make the warning message understanable for
the user, indeed).
To make a statement : Gnopernicus is supporting and will support TTS engines
that support AT LEAST "end of speech" markers.
So, the warning that you are seeing is because gnopernicus is trying to deal
with a voice (kevin or kal from festival driver ) that does NOT fulfill the
above requirements. There are 2 bugs on this issue (107638 for gnopernicus
and 107815 for gnome-speech, the first one depending on the second) and I
hope that the solution of these two will make gnopernicus not to generate
this message, ASAP.
To conclude : This problem is an issue for gnome-speech and gnopernicus and
the implications and a workaround for them are described in the README file
from gnopernicus sources:
<snip from README>
NOTE1
It is NOT recommended to use voices from festival together with viavoice
or FreeTTS voices because the first type of voices don't support speech
markers. The lack of the markers implicates that not the entire presentation
chunk will be spoken.
If you STILL want to use festival voices you can, BUT they should be
the same voice (ex Kevin for all voices that should present a role OR
these voices should be at the end of the chunk).
Example:
if the presentation chunk for push-button looks like this:
%name<voice=name>%
%role<voice=role>%
%?shortcut?"shortcut":""<voice=system>?%
%shortcut<voice=shortcut>%
make sure that you use a similar combination:
name voice - Kevin | Kal | ViaVoice voice | ViaVoice voice |
Viavoice/FreeTTS
role voice - Kevin | Kal | Viavoice voice | ViaVoice voice |
Viavoice/FreeTTS
system voice- Kevin | Kal | Kevin | Kal/ViaVoice |
Viavoice/FreeTTS
system voice- Kevin | Kal | Kevin | Kal |
Viavoice/FreeTTS
THIS IS TEMPORARY AND SHOULD BE SOLVED SOON (in gnopernicus/gnome-speech).
</snip from README>
Thanks for reporting the problem.
