Hmm. Festival doesn't seem to deal exceptionally well with either of 
them. There's a hacked-up version of the code I'm using at 
http://www.codon.org.uk/~mjg59/dashertalk.tar.gz - if I choose a French 
alphabet, accented characters are just ignored.
