as I understand from prior post on this list you must recompile
gnome-speech in order to have viaVoice detected and selected. It seems
that if viaVoice is installed when you compile gnome-speech, it is
selected as the default TTS.
Hi Nath:
I do not believe this is correct. Gnome-speech will only build
text-to-speech drivers for engines which it detects, but it makes no
configuration choices about defaults. This is up to gnopernicus.
By the way, recent gnopernicus builds allow you to select the global
speaker and TTS engine. Go to the Input/Output Settings->Speech
Settings items in the gnopernicus
menus, then select Voice Settings. From the Voice Settings dialog,
select "Absolute Voice(s) Values", then select "Engine Driver" and
"Engine Speaker", and after you have done so, press the button (via
spacebar activation) labelled "Force all voice at engine driver and
speaker" (clearly we need some UI copy-editing here to make the strings
read a bit better in English :-).
This should cause all your gnopernicus voices to use the selected TTS
driver and speaker.

I just got gnopernicus to talk for the first time. I am usig festival.
I have the rpm's for viavoice 5 and would like to try viavoice instead of
festival.
How do I configure gnopernicus to use viavoice?
