making shift-tab work

Hi all
How do you make the shift-tab and alt-shift-tab combinations work under X.
I know that the kernel keymap and the x keymap need modified, and I've
modified the kernel keymap already, as shift-tab and alt-shift-tab work on
the console. Does anyone know what strings to put in the x keymap to make
this work in X and gnome?
