The j2sdk package also includes a set of Swing example applications (in
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_02/demo/jfc). Running one of these (e.g.
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_02/demo/jfc/Stylepad/Stylepad.jar) is an excellent way
to verify that you have set everything up correctly. I suggest you don't
try to make general Java apps work with gnopernicus until you have first
verified that you get speech from Stylepad.
