Hello all,

 

Sorry for the amount of posts I've left on this subject and for the amount of no-subject replies I've just generated.  Something happened with my mail program, I've reconfigured it and hopefully I've stopped the problem.<smile>

 

    Unfortunately, this problem of the Dectalk USB crashing is not an abstract one since it leaves me unable to use my Linux computers both at home and at school and it is probably going to take time and money to fix the issue.  Thanks to all who have responded here and privately.  I hope we can fix this problem so that no one else has to scramble for another synthesizer like I am doing now so that I can get my homework done and take my final exams.  I am not expecting perfection concerning speech and Braille access, but it is difficult when the speech hardware becomes totally crashed making me unproductive and dependent on others to assist me.
