I tried as you said that is
First I opened gedit and typed some text.
Then I went to a particular character
I activated 00 mode and typed 5 by switching on numlock.
but it did not work.
Do I need to activate gnomes accessibility?
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks.
Satyam.
