If your PC has USB ports and you have a serial synthesizer around, you could
just buy a USB to serial adapter and use it to make the necessary connection.
Then, configure your favourite speech software to use /dev/ttyUSB0 or whatever
port is allocated to the USB to serial adapter. This works on my laptop, which
lacks a serial port. Be sure to check that there is a kernel driver for
whatever USB to serial adapter you buy, to ensure compatibility.
