Thanks not sure the best way to go about that since as I just discovered this distro comes with gnome 2.16 (OUCH).
Need to get orca working with a java 1.6 jdk-based application.

Hi Don:
You are best off using the GNOME release that includes the packages in
question. So, for example, assume you want to use Orca v2.30. You
should use all of GNOME v2.30.
Or, for example, you want to use Orca v2.28. You should use all of
GNOME v2.28. And so on.
