Hi again.
Seems that the problem doesn't exists in version 17.0.8 of thunderbird.
At least I could not reproduce so far.

Hi Peter.
This is confirmed as described.
I'll try to downgrade TB to a previous version to confirm if the problem
persists.

Hello,
I am not sure where might be the issue but I feel this is critical so
I'm trying to make a lot of noise regarding it.
After upgrading to Thunderbird 24 I was still using gnome 3.8. I have
noticed manipulating folder view and / or using message filter causes
message list content in the main window of thunderbird to change and
unfortunatelly it causes noticeable lag. It is a few seconds even with
large folders. I have sent a query regarding this to Marco Zehe and
Trevor Saunders at Mozilla so maybe I'll get an advice.
However after updating to gnome 3.10 the lag has even increased. While
using multiple accounts in thunderbird, switching from one to the other
sometimes causes such a lag that I need to restart thunderbird or orca
in order to get some functionality back. Otherwise I can use orca in
other apps but while thunderbird is in focus orca only speaks keypresses
Without presenting anythink usefull.
So I am afraid this is no longer a thunderbird only issue.
It reminds me of gnome 2.x days where presentation of tables and lists
was causing huge lags and freezes however currently this is the only
place where I can observe a lag and freeze. For comparison I am able to
browse the folder with 300 subfolders where each of them has at least 20
or more files inside. Handling large lists in nautilus also takes little
while but I haven't observed freeze and after a short while I can
continue where I have left off without a need for additional workarounds.
Please can anyone try to reproduce this and also try to suggest
something leading towards eventually solving this?
Greetings
Peter
