What is it/what does it do?
- An Object Request Broker aiming for full CORBA 2.2 compliance
(What is CORBA? http://www.omg.org/news/begin.htm), and
already a good amount accomplished towards this goal.
- Uses Very Cool optimization techniques to provide thin,
fast stubs and a memory-efficient, fast ORB. For example,
an ORBit "echo this string back to me" client, with
everything except basic system libraries statically linked,
is under a tenth the /usr/bin/size of the equivalent MICO
client.
- C language bindings, others to come.
- Performs all basic client- and server- side SII functions,
to the point of replacing mico as the ORB used by the GNOME panel,
and allowing CORBA integration work to proceed in the rest of
the GNOME desktop project.
- Licensed under the LGPL
Where can you get it?
