gedit is the offcial text editor of GNOME
homepage: http://www.gnome.org/projects/gedit
download: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gedit/2.13/
gedit 2.13.1 is available for download. It's the second developement
release based on the recent codebase rework and features a good deal of
bugfixes and enanchements. Among other things, it contains a new
'modeline' plugin written by Steve Frnaux, which parses some of the
standard vim, emacs and Kate modelines (use-tabs, tabs-width, etc) and
applies them to the current gedit document.
We are really happy to see that no major problem has emerged after such
a big change as the merge of the reworked codebase, however we *really*
need help with testing, to make sure there are no major regressions
against 2.12: in particular we encourage anyone running the program with
accessibility enabled or in RTL languages or with any 'non-standard'
configuration to give us feedback.
ciao
Paolo
