Der neue Status von gnome-commander — gcmd-1-12 — po (Deutsch) ist nun »Korrekturgelesen«.

Ich hab hier bisschen recherchiert. Gnome-Commander verwendet die gio-Bibliothek zur Erkennung von volatilen 
Dateien, dort findet man folgende Beschreibung:

> G_FILE_ATTRIBUTE_STANDARD_IS_VOLATILE: A key in the "standard" namespace for checking if a file is 
> volatile. This is meant for opaque, non-POSIX-like backends to indicate that the URI is not persistent. 
> Applications should look at G_FILE_ATTRIBUTE_STANDARD_SYMLINK_TARGET for the persistent URI.

Ich kenne »volatil« ansonsten noch als Gegenteil von »persistent«, wenn Daten mit Ausschalten des Rechners 
verloren gehen (RAM vs Disk).

Das scheint mir ein ziemlicher Sonderfall zu sein, ich würde »volatile« insgesamt aber eher als »flüchtig« 
statt »temporär« übersetzen.
