gnome-canvas-thumbnail?

I'm currently writing an app which needs to be able to display a
collection of thumbnails of images and allow the user to select images
they wish to perform operations on. I figured I would write a
GnomeCanvasThumbnail canvas item unless anybody knows of one already in
existence. I'm looking for something similar to what compupic
(http://www.linux.compupic.com/) does, not a button with a pixmap in it
(gphoto).

The next obvious step would be a widget which is a contact sheet ...
