Hmmmm, good question... I'm using the macros/gnome.m4 from the
gnome-libs (or gnome-core) directories.  Perhaps it'd be nice to
modify these to set $gnome_prefix to `gnome-config --prefix` as a
first option.  Right now, it defaults to the default --prefix
(/usr/local).

Is there a reason why this isn't so?
