GNOME_APP_UI_ITEM_CONFIGURABLE and menu paths

I've just detected that it is possible to configure menu labels (see
GNOME_APP_UI_ITEM_CONFIGURABLE). This makes is difficult to find the
menu items by name (for instance with gnome_app_find_menu_pos). Do we
really need this feature? Why shall someone change the labels of
standard menus?
