Make error

I think this has already been addressed, but not sure so here it is again.
While trying to compile latest gnome cvs, gnome-libs barfs on the make
command not being able to make makefiles in /po and /intl. by doing make -k
I can bypass this but I would prefer it not do it. Could someone tell me
what is wrong.
