If done via URX-s, then fonts should be completely loaded into client
memory, before it can use these. Still I'd like to be able to extract some
information (family member lists, outlines, metrics), without fetching
font over network.
Just imagine design shop environment, with ca. 10.000 installed fonts. If
lists are not kept on server, every client has to maintain separate
database of family members/encodings. Now, if someboy wants to install new
font - how should separate workstations be signalled about that? Even, if
they constantly monitor some public directory, they have to rebuild their
font lists separately.
Just my opinion. Feel free to criticize that :)
