Gnome + pixmaps

 How can I set the GNOME pixmap directory?
 
 In a normal gtk+ application I type 
 
  add_pixmap_directory (PACKAGE_DATA_DIR "/pixmaps");
  add_pixmap_directory (PACKAGE_SOURCE_DIR "/art");
 
 but in a GNOME application it returns me pixmap not found!
