Desktop <--> Applets locale confusion?

Hi All,


I have these env. variables defined:

LANG=pt_PT.ISO8859-1
LC_MESSAGES=en_US.ISO_8859-1

With this I can see all my desktop/applications messages in en_US, but
all applets that I've tried are in pt_PT and not in en_US.  Though
gnome-clock displays text in en_US.

You can test this by inserting a gnome-dictionary-applet (or any other
applet) in the menubar.


I've tried to glimpse the gnome-applets source-code, but I didn't see
any call to setlocale/bindtextdomain.


Any idea of might be wrong?
