gnome-settings-daemon fails to start

Hi,

Sorry if this list is not th eproper one for this problem.

If a user who is logging in via gdm does not appear in local
passwd/shadow files then `gnome-settings-daemon' fails to start so the
whole gnome session fails.

Authentication is done by libnss-mysql and it goes very well, only the
daemon fails.

Is there any workaround to solve this?
