Compiling gdl

Im trying to compile gdl from cvs but i keep getting this error:
config.status: creating idl/Makefile
config.status: creating po/Makefile.in
config.status: error: cannot find input file: po/Makefile.in.in
Thats when I run ./autogen.sh or ./configure
I have gettext 0.11.2 installed ... ive tried even downgrading to gettext 0.10.4 and I get the same results..
