I think our goal is to make an IDE that works well with GNOME
technologies which currently use the gnu autotools chain.  There are
plenty of great general purpose IDE's out there so we want to stay
somewhat focused.  That being said the plugin interface allows for
others to integrate their needs into Scaffold without having to build
their own IDE.
