[1] provides a patch about code-folding which isn't technically so much
different from providing indentation as it also requires some
information on the language structure. GtkSourceView developers plan to
add some kind of indentation based on this.

Usually it is easier to reach the developers through gedit-list or on
#gedit at irc.gnome.org.
