This was my "error".  I'm always using the setting "Aligned Panel" -- it
douldn't work.

All these GUIs are user-unfriendly!!! All these things are too
complicate and/or bloated ;-)

And thanks to Telsa who in detail explained it to the poor me (pointing
to the control-center option which helped a lot!).
