I was pleasantly surprised as well.  I started this because I thought
that I could help out by adding to some of the API docs, but I couldn't
easily determine which projects needed help.

Yep, it is an artifact of gtk-doc.  As Malcolm points out below the
metric I created is a little simplistic, I 'll try and improve it
sometime this week.
