Hi Fred, You could browse[1] through http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ for bugs marked with the "gnome-love"[2] keyword. or you could rewrite the bootchart graphing tool[3] from Java to Python (using pycairo), following a suggestion of my own this-week's-hero[4], Behdad Esfahbod. The initial code size is reported to be ~5000 lines, probably will be much less once rewrote.
