Mallard allows installing software via
<link action="install:packagename" href="http://package.org/">Install package</link>
One problem is that packages have different names in different
distributions.
As I learned from Matthias Klumpp at Desktop Summit,
http://dde.debian.net/distromatch-frontend.htm exists which lists
package names depending on the distributions.
Not sure if there is an API for querying.
