It may reduce your mail load; but it does not fix the bug.

The right solution is:

	1. Fix the bug.

	2. Close the bug report(s).

	3. Mail the reporters so that they know they can download a
           new, fixed version.

Note that you cannot do (2) if you add in that horrible hack.
