On this front, the other item people should be seriously thinking about
is the ability to shift sessions from one X server to the other.
Since applications almost always are being built via toolkits that
(finally) include image rendering, the concept of moving from one
X server to another becomes much more tractible (given Motif's lack
of either a canvas widget or of anything for putting images on the screen,
this was really tough in the past). Typically, toolkits have most
of the mechanism already in their map/unmap facilities.
Most of this work would be in GTK and related libraries: if people
don't start seriously thinking about it, we'll just have to do it in Xt/Xaw
to embarrass people (though the fraction of mobile applications will be
relatively smaller).
I think we really all want to be able to move running applications,
and the time is now...
