GNOME hackers,
The architecture overview on the GNOME developer web pages
(http://developer.gnome.org/arch/) desperately need to be updated. I am
volunteering to put new and updated content onto the web page, but I need
various GNOME hackers to update the content.
If you are an authority on one or more parts of the GNOME architecture,
please help to write updated material for that topic.
To keep things sane, please fill out and email me the following template,
replacing anything in brackets with the appropriate info.
==============================================================
Author: <your name>
Email: <your email address>
Category: <the category under arch/ it belongs in>
Title: <topic title>
Phrase: <a short phrase or sentence describing the topic>
Applicability: <choose from: "1.x", "2.0", "both">
Blurb:
<the description of the topic, typically a few
paragraphs>
Articles:
<a list of article titles with URLs to link to>
Links:
<a list of relevant links with URLs to link to>
References:
<a list of references with URLs to link to>
Tutorials:
<a list of tutorial titles with URLs to link to>
===============================================================
If a topic does not need to be updated, please email me this template
anyway, filling in the author, email, category, title, and applicability
fields so that I can mark it as being done in my own notes.
Note that we will be co-developing documentation for the GNOME 1.x and
GNOME 2.0 platforms. I'm hoping to have the 1.x docs finished very soon.
The 2.0 docs may evolve for the next couple months as the libraries
stablize, but please get in a draft soon so it will be easy to
update them later.
We will probably do a little rearranging of the categories and topics as
necessary. I have pasted the current categories and topics below so that
we can discuss ideas on what should be added, removed, or changed.
We will have about 50 topics, so we need everybody who is knowledgable
about some part of the GNOME architecture to contribute the content for at
least one topic. If you send me your contribution in the next few days,
I'll make sure you get recognition in next week's GNOME Summary and you'll
get instant fame and praise from the whole community :)
Thanks for your help.
