Looking at the very high number of subscribers to the list I'd say that
those on it are interested in the kind of information that is currently
sent there.
Back when I maintained GNOME in Gentoo Linux I found the announce list
_VERY_ useful. And I didn't care whether the mail had much useful
information, I just wanted to know that there was a new release and
which number it had. So that I could update the package.
As said, I think we should create another list for those that are not on
the current list. But don't change this list since we then would have to
move all of the current subscribers to a new list instead of those
interested in a list with less but more high quality could subscribe
themselves there.
Just my thoughts,
Mikael Hallendal
