How does this sound:

#if defined(truncate) && defined(SOLARIS)
#undef truncate
#define truncate(X,Y) truncate64((X),(Y))
#endif

(where SOLARIS is some useful preprocessor symbol)

That shouldn't pollute the struct namespace but will make the right
function be called.
