I forgot to send these. Bad Telsa.
Minutes for Gnome 2 release team meeting 2002-09-12
===================================================
Present: Apologies: Absent:
Frederic Crozat Jody Goldberg Jeff Waugh
Glynn Foster
Karl Gaffney
Telsa Gwynne
Mikael Hallendal
Luis Villa
Actions:
DONE: Glynn to reschedule this week's meeting from 11th to 12th.
DONE: Jeff to consolidate Luis' bug summary document and Mikael's
API documentation summary and to send them out.
=>
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2002-September/msg00129.html
PENDING: Jeff to check in changes to dotplan.
=> Jeff not here, so couldn't check.
PENDING: Jeff to install analog or webalyser on the box hosting dotplan
so we know what people are looking for/at/over.
=> post-FTP changeover.
PENDING: Jeff to create check-list of "things to do before major
release" and maintain it so it's ready for 2.2.0.
=> post-FTP changeover.
PENDING: Luis to collate responses from relevant maintainers on whether
they want their apps to be part of GNOME 2.2 and post them for public
discussion.
=> Luis got lots of responses, is definitely going to post them this
week.
PENDING: Jeff to write 'GNOME 2.2 Desktop Modules' GEP and post, etc.
Decisions and discussion:
* Status of 2.0.2
2.0.2RC-1 is out. 2.0.2 is due. This is later than the schedule on
dotplan. However, we are not changing the rest of the schedule.
2.1.x and 2.2.0 dates are completely unaffected by 2.0.x times,
and are still due out as per http://developer.gnome.org/dotplan/schedule
* Anything to suggest for Sun's Sysadmin's Guide?
Pat Costello announced that Sun was planning to start work on a
GNOME 2 System Adminstration Guide shortly. If anyone has thoughts
on things such a guide should cover, now is a very good time to
speak up. (See also Gnome bug number 91868, which is similar.)
Subject line: GNOME 2.0 System Admin Guide
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-doc-list/2002-September/thread.html
...and follow the links for that subject line.
(Announcement was also on desktop-devel-list but no discussion there.)
* Jody broke a string
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2002-September/msg00181.html
Jody is a naughty Jody. He wasn't at the meeting, so we need to
find out whether gnome-i18n want it reverted or what.
* Speeding up GNOME
In 2002-08-21 minutes we had:
NEW: Karl to make noises in next few weeks about performance
and profiling. He said "three weeks", so remember for second
meeting in September.
Karl is duly reminded.
* Upcoming absences
Luis is away 2002-09-18 to 2002-10-09.
Telsa is away 2002-09-20 to 2002-09-26. (Someone else can minute
for the meeting on the 25th, therefore)
Glynn is away for 2002-09-18 meeting.
* Who's taking on which modules to track.
As per prior minutes, this is not an attempt to micro-manage.
It's an attempt to make sure that when someone asks "What's
going on with lib-foo?" on IRC or the mailing lists or in the
phone calls, someone should be able to answer rather than everyone
saying "Urr, I thought someone else knew."
This is the current DRAFT list
