Also, our translation status script for the translation status web pages
(http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/status/) regularily checks out
the entire cvs and regenerates the translations in order to display the
statistics. It only uses GNOME cvs for the moment and I can imagine that
it would require quite a lot of work to make it store information for,
and use, different repositories.

So yes, using the same repository is important, probably most important
to translators, but not exclusively.
