Of course, this won't work on non-Linux platforms, which means we'll need
to convert the Gnome 2.0 .po files to UTF-8 anyway. :)

These should be converted to UTF-8 for Gnome 2.0, (ie at present in
gnome-libs HEAD)
But the .desktop-style files suck and need integrating with the .po files
somehow.
