Nautilus Messages

I installed nautilus on my Linux machine and O no longer can view any of my 
translated messages. Initially I has set LANG, LANUAGE, and LC_ALL variables 
to the lanuage code, but when I start the X server, the LANG variable is 
reset to us_EN.
